SLIDER

just a little bit of heaven

Monday, January 14, 2013

I was a little bit nervous about our first day at home without Baba and without all of the older siblings. But, it turned out to be fabulous, despite the 1:00 am wakeup time for our youngest son (and nope, he never went back to sleep!).

We did some schoolwork, mostly to see where Kaikai is at and to ease Grace and Jadon back into a routine. Kaikai is doing great. He knows his addition facts and he reads wonderfully. When we use the translator, he can read the Mandarin before the translation is actually spoken. He knows the pinyin alphabet and can read pinyin, as well. So, once he has a little better grasp of English, I'll start teaching him to read in English. He did a little bit of computer work on the Starfall site today and really liked that.

The bigger part of the day was spent playing games, trying out the train set, painting and just hanging out together. I continue to be amazed at how well this little boy is adjusting!

When we went to get the other kids from school, I decided to go inside, rather than wait for them in the car. That was probably a mistake. Kaikai started to whine and fuss. He also started pulling on my hair and acting silly. The stress of having numerous people wanting to meet him was just too much for him...poor little guy!

On the other hand, when he saw Adam, he absolutely beamed!

So, although our little guy is doing wonderfully, there are certainly ways that he is still adjusting and I'm sure will be adjusting for a long time.

But, it's absolutely without-a-doubt, definitely worth it...especially when your little guy lays his head on your shoulder and falls asleep in your arms.

Aaaahhhh....that absolutely has to be just a little bit of heaven on earth.

You have such a good understanding of what our newly-arrived kids are likely feeling/thinking, and I'm sure that's a big contributor to how well he's doing! What a wonderful first school day.

Congratulations!!! He is adorable!!! Isn't it just so wonderful to see your children all bonding and doing so well? Childs play is universal.
Congrats and thanks for sharing!
