Homeschooling with Grace

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Oh my! It is so much fun to do school with Grace! As I mentioned in an earlier post, teaching her to read is just like teaching Adam to read. Reading a single word might take them on a tangent that lasts five minutes (you'll see this happen about half-way through the video that I posted below--which is why I posted this video, instead of one where she actually reads something!). The only difference between Grace and Adam is that Grace doesn't stand on her head during her reading lesson. lol!

She's acutally doing a great job reading, though. I tried to start reading a little earlier in the year, but she just wasn't interested. Then, a few weeks ago, she started asking about words in all of her books. She wanted to read! That's one of the wonderful things about homeschooling. I can let my children go at their own pace, when they are ready. Also, Grace can wander all around the house, and I can just wait until she gets back!

And there she goes!! (She did actually finish this lesson! And Adam can sit still now that he's 11!! I'm sure that Grace will get to that point...some day! lol!)

Grace loves numbers. Adam has been doing each of the activities with Grace that are printed on the back of these cards. They have a great time together!

Grace has so much spunk! Moving and learning go hand in hand!
