Lily just loves to read blogs.  For the past couple of weeks she's been begging me to look at "that wedding blog."  So, yesterday, I let her check out Kim's blog (which is just too much fun!).  I got such a kick out of Lily and Grace, looking at this blog.  Lily enjoyed the pictures and Grace loved the music!  You have to see for yourself.

Make sure you check out Kim's blog for yourself.  She and her hubby are bringing home China treasures number 3 and 4 (in addition to 3 homegrown, grown-up children).  Kim is selling her beloved camera in order to help fund this adoption.  And you can tell by the photos on her blog that it takes great shots!

"This is fun!"

That's what Jadon told me about three hours after surgery.

No kidding!

Jadon did incredibly well.
We did end up staying in the hospital overnight, but after a few little tears of disappointment, staying overnight ended up being the best thing.

Jadon got all of Dad and Mom's attention for most of the day.
And all of Mom's attention for the night.

Jadon prayed that it wouldn't be too painful.
And guess what?!

The only pain reliever that he has taken is
tylenol.
That's it!
The nurse kept asking him if he was hurting.
"No.  I'm fine," was his response.

Thank you, Lord!

Here's Jadon, before surgery.  He was pretty nervous, but kept busy by reading a TinTin book.

Adam came to see Jadon in the evening.  Jadon was so happy to see his brother.

Such a sweet little guy.
Sweet dreams, my precious son.

The surgeon said that there was plenty of bone from Jadon's hip, but minimal tissue to work with in his mouth.  Please pray that the tissue grows together as it should.  We're ready to be done with surgeries for awhile...

even if they are a lot of fun!

Jadon's surgery (bone graft) has been scheduled for Wednesday.
My little guy is pretty frightened.
So, Adam has joyfully forgone his bed and has been sleeping on the floor with Jadon (who usually sleeps in a hammock).
Adam loves to love on his little brother.
Adam has such an incredible compassion and kindness towards others.
Adam hurts when others are hurting.
He doesn't want his little brother to be afraid.
So he shows his love by sleeping on the floor, right next to Jadon.
And Jadon is so very grateful.

Oh, how I love these boys.

And, if you think of it, could you pray for Jadon?
Pray that his heart would be at peace and that the surgery would go well.
His surgery is at 12:30 (mountain time) on Wednesday.
Thanks so much, dear friends.

Dream #2...or...Why India? (part 2)

Sunday, August 1, 2010

"And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.  Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions."  Joel 2:28

I am so very grateful that the God of the Universe wants to speak to us.  I know that in my own life, I haven't always been receptive to His voice.  But, I know that He does speak and I know that there is a quality to His voice that is like no other.

Sometimes He speaks through other people, often He speaks through Scripture, sometimes He speaks through a still, small voice, occasionally He speaks audibly and sometimes He speaks through dreams and visions (among other ways).

As I mentioned in an earlier post, God has been leading me to India for almost two years now.  I haven't always seen that this is where He was leading, but I did know that He was doing SOMETHING.  I share this for your encouragement!  Our God loves to lead and guide us. When we are receptive to His voice, He has so much to share.  But, even when we make mistakes along the way (of which, I am an expert!), He is patient and kind if He sees that our hearts truly are towards Him.

I shared a dream that God gave me a couple of years ago in this post, before I had even heard of SCH.  About 8 months ago, he gave me another dream.  At this point, I still didn't know that I would visit SCH, but I did know that God was trying to tell me something.  Don't you just LOVE that?!  THE GOD OF THE UNIVERSE was trying to tell me something.  How incredible is that?!  And He wants to tell you many things, as well.  Just too amazing!!

But, anyway, back to the dream.  Here's what I wrote in my journal:

I was at my parent's house.  I looked outside and noticed their shed in the back yard.  I suddenly remembered that I was supposed to have been taking care of our neighbor's animals and that I had left them in the shed.  I didn't really know how many there were and went cautiously out to the shed.  I was afraid for what I'd find.  David was with me.

When we got to the shed, we looked in the window and could see a number of cats curled up, as if sleeping.  I opened the door and the first cat got slowly up.  It came out the door and shook itself.  Most of its hair flew off with the shake.  At least three other cats followed the first--all in a similar, scraggly, pathetic fashion.

I ran to the house to get food and water.  David had brought out some food from somewhere also.  I put it on the deck for the first cat and then went in to get more.

I looked out of the window, and a huge, cartoon-like animal was approaching the first cat.  Off in the distance, I heard someone yell, "wolf!"  The wolf was about to devour the skinny cat.  I was afraid, but I went out and stamped my foot on the deck.  I walked closer to the wolf--yelling for it to leave.  It slowly sauntered away.

I thought that we'd need to bathe the cats.  I looked down and the cat had turned into a child.  The child had sores on his head and all of his hair was matted down.

I called to David because I knew that there was at least one dog that I was supposed to have been caring for.  He said that he would go and check whether the rest of the animals were alive or not.

And then I woke up...The dream was very vivid and when I woke up, I immediately wrote it down in my journal.  Why?  Because it had a certain quality about it that I knew was the Lord.

He speaks to us, friends!!  He leads and guides us!!!  And in this dream, He was conveying His heart for those who are outcast and forgotten.  He LOVES them with a love beyond compare.

Shortly after I had this dream, SCH doubled in size.  They took in many, many children who had been forgotten by most, and who had even been left to die, in some cases.  But God had not forgotten them.  He is far too kind to forget any of His precious children.

Jesus, help me to never forget your dear ones.  Help me to remember your love for those who are lost and lonely, and for those who seem to have it all together.  Each one desperately needs You.  I desperately need You.  Show me Your heart, dear Father.  I just want to have more of Your heart.

garage sale success (updated), visas and some incredible God-stories

Friday, July 23, 2010

Our church had a garage sale today to benefit Sarah's Covenant Homes and Trinity Learning Center (which is the school that our church is starting).  It was a great success!  We made about $650 (updated) $800 (and updated after Saturday) $1200 (to be split between the two groups).

Our dear sister, Tonja, spent a lot of time getting the sale organized, Jeanne went through TONS (you think that I'm exagerating, but it's really true!) of stuff to get it ready for the sale, Mercy brought watermelon and spoke Spanish, as needed, Kristi was just her regular helpful self, and all of the young men, husbands and children were a great help.  We had all prayed that the sale would be a succes and the Lord certainly answered!  We had people non-stop from 8:00 am until 3:00 (the sale was supposed to end at 2:00!).  I wasn't able to even stop to take pictures until 3:00.  These photos are taken at the end of the day.

It's been such a blessing to have the brothers and sisters at our church be so enthusiastic and supportive of our trip to India.  Many of them would love to visit sometime, as well!  On that note, on Wednesday night, I had asked our church to pray that Lily and I would receive our visas.  And guess what happened?!  I got an email on Thursday that our visas were done and we got them in the mail today.  Praise God!

And if you haven't already, you should read the comments on my last post.  There are a couple of incredible stories of God giving people visions and dreams about their future children.  Isn't He just so wonderful and kind?!  He loves us and He absolutely loves the little children.
